WILL HOBBS is the author of thirteen novels for upper elementary, middle school and young adult readers, as well as two picture book stories. Seven of his novels, Bearstone, Downriver, The Big Wander, Beardance, Far North, The Maze, and Jason's Gold, were named "Best Books for Young Adults" by the American Library Association. ALA also named Far North and Downriver to their list of the "100 Best Young Adult Books of the Twentieth Century". Ghost Canoe received the "Edgar Allan Poe Award" in l998 for Best Young Adult Mystery. 

In outdoor stories that appeal to both boys and girls, Hobbs has readers discovering wild places, sharing adventures with people from varied backgrounds, and exploring how to make important choices in their own lives. A graduate of Stanford University and former reading and language arts teacher, Will has been a full-time writer since l990. He lives with his wife, Jean, in Durango, Colorado. 

Will's books have won many other awards, including the "California Young Reader Medal", the "Western Writers of America Spur Award", the "Mountains and Plains Booksellers Award", the "Colorado Book Award", and nominations to state award lists in over thirty states.

Michael Parent grew up in a bilingual French-Canadian  family full of singers and storytellers in Lewiston, Maine. He has performed  traditional and original stories, in both English and French, for a  wide range of audiences from schools to libraries to theaters and festivals,  in the U.S. and beyond since 1977. 

He has been featured at such events as the Martha's  Vineyard Festival of Storytelling, the National Storytelling Festival  in Jonesborough, Tennessee, and the Glistening Waters Storytelling Festival  in Masterton, New Zealand. He is a 1999 recipient of the "National Storytelling  Network's Circle of Excellence" award.

Pam Berger, an educational technology consultant, is author of Internet for Active Learners: Curriculum Strategies for K-12 Education (ALA Editions, 1998) and was a school librarian for 20 years. She is the publisher and editor of Information Searcher, a newsletter for integrating technology into the curriculum focusing on CD-ROM, online
searching and the Internet; co-author of CD-ROM in Schools: A Directory and
Practical Handbook for Media Specialists, published by Eight Bit Books (Wilton, CT); and chairperson of American Association of School Librarians national technology initiative, ICONnect.

Ms. Berger represented American Library Association (ALA) at a congressional hearing, jointly sponsored by the House Committees on Science and Economic and Educational Opportunities, investigating "Educational Technology in the 21st Century." 

Ms Berger has published articles in School Library Journal, CD-ROM
Professional, Multimedia Schools, Media and Methods, American Libraries,
T.H.E. Journal, Family PC, and Information Processing and Management. She
has presented at education/library/ technology conferences in over 30 states in addition to Australia, Belgium, Switzerland, Thailand, Singapore and

After spending 10 years in corporate health care management, Brenda, who has a Masters in Public Health, left that career to pursue her passion: empowering women to achieve their best. 

Since January 1998, Brenda's work as an image consultant is quite successful; she assists women looking for a transformation by teaching them how to visually and
psychologically enhance their assets and deal with their challenges. By offering individual or small group consultations, as well as corporate seminars, Brenda works with women to assist them in developing their best personal and professional image. In July 2000, she created The Success Studio, providing women an array of products and services designed to help them realize their full potential.

Brenda's other true passion?  Empowering women to control their own destinies
and improve their life quality through self-employment. She's a mother of three girls, ages 15, 14 and 11, and looks forward to sharing the freedom of entrepreneurship with her daughters. In addition, Brenda is a monthly columnist for It's About Business, providing tips and techniques on putting your best image forward.
